Day 2 - The Boys

Sam took this pretty picture of the sunrise.  What a beautiful start for the day!

Our camp ground was close to the top of these stairs to the beach.  No, we didn't camp directly on the beach, but almost.  It really was a gorgeous view.

Aunt Leilani worked and worked along with others to create an awesome shallow pool for the kids.  It was warmer and safer for the little guys.  

 

 

The boys spent the day on the beach, burying their legs in the sand...

I wasn't there so I can't give all the details, but they had a blast and everyone survived all the kayaking adventures.  They saw some seals out past the waves in the kelp beds. Richard and Sam took most of these pictures, but I stole some from Leilani too.  Thanks!

San Diego Day 2 for the Girls

Day 2 - The Girls

The girls and I decided that we could use a break from the sand so we headed into town for the day, while the boys all stayed at the beach.  

Sara and I dropped off the little girls at my parents hotel and went with my dad and Jessi to the San Diego Temple for the morning.  It is wonderful to be able to share that with Sara now that she is 12 and able to go inside with me.  We sat and talked quietly for about 45 minutes.  We soaked in the peace and beauty of the temple.  It was so sweet to talk with Sara about my testimony of the Savior and eternal families and why the temple is so important.  I talked with her about the family history work I have been doing and told her about her ancestors.  It was a special opportunity to be there with Papa and Jessi too. 

Oddly, Sara has now been to 3 temples, the Jordan River Temple in the Salt Lake Valley, the San Diego Temple and the Gila Valley Temple in the Thatcher / Safford area, but not the Mesa Temple.  We will have to remedy that soon.

 While we were having a peaceful morning, my mom had Susanna and Laney as well as Jessi's 4 girls.  They were at a park near the hotel and realized that my dad and Jessi had the hotel keys.  They spent a couple of hours at the park without too much drama thankfully.  It seemed like the girls all had a great time.  My mom is an amazing Grammy!

Once we got out of our dress clothes we gathered up all the girls and we all went to Presidio Park in Old Town San Diego for lunch.  As kids we always would have a picnic there.  It is on the top of a big hill over looking Old Town.  We love all the grass and trees. The girls ran around with a cross country team that was practicing. 

It was nice and cool.  It was great to get to relax a bit with out any sand!

The view is amazing!

Every time we go to Presidio Park we roll down the big grassy hill.  The girls all loved it!

So did Papa!

Papa and Jessi joined in the rolling action.  Gram and I opted to photograph the fun!

After the park, we went to the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center.  I had heard it was interactive and lots of fun, and it really was.  Everyone had a great time with the presentation of the story and all the hands on activities.
