Last Week of School!!!

Well, we finally found a minute to make Laney's requested birthday meal Sunday afternoon. She wanted chicken and gravy with mashed potatoes, baby lima beans and rolls. And for dessert at her request we had root beer floats instead of cake.

Sunday night was Seminary graduation. Those pictures with be in another post with the other graduation pictures.

Monday, Freddy went to cosmetology school with Sara and had his hair bleached and dyed pink. He has just over a month before going to BYU for EFY, and they do not allow unnatural hair colors, so it will have to be dyed back. He just thought it would be a fun start to summer.

It took about 4 hours to get it finished. His hair took a long time to bleach. He was so thrilled with the results. It was darker than he was expecting, but fantasy colors fade quickly so Sara made it darker so it would last longer. He wanted a pastel pink, which is what it has faded to now, after a week of swimming and showering.

Monday night for Family Home Evening, we sang karaoke and danced. It is always a ton of fun with all these crazy kids.

Daniel, Laney and Susanna all received the Principal's List Honor Roll for straight A's on their report cards.

Tuesday, evening was Sara's high school graduation. That also is in the other post. Later that evening, Makaila came by to congratulate her and to visit for a few minutes. These girls sure do love each other.

Gram and Papa also came by to congratulate her and to give her her graduation present.

Andrew had to try on the lei that the Sasaki's so sweetly gave her for graduation.

Later that evening, Gram committed burglary, so we had to do a stealthy retrieval.

We searched our whole house at least 4 times and could not find Sara's phone. The last place she remembered having it was at family prayer in our front hall. She was kneeling by Gram. After searching for about 45 minutes, we prayed for help and as clear as daylight the thought that Gram must have accidentally picked it up and put it in her purse came to me. Sara felt the same. I sent a text to Papa to see it he was still up. He had his phone turned off, but saw it light up and said I could call him. I told him the only thing that we could come up with was that mom had it in her purse, but it was strange because their phones are nothing alike. He almost told me I was crazy, but he kindly got up and search Gram's purse. He started laughing and said she DID have it. So we made a midnight dash to retrieve it. Sara needs it for appointments and such today and her driver's license is in her case. Gram had no idea, she slept through the whole thing.

We were super tired when we got home. We had both planned to go to bed early.  Ha!

Thursday morning, we were notified by some of friends that will be seniors next year at Valley Vista High School, that Daniel made it into the top show choir, Vocal Thunder!!! He was the only freshman to make it!!! We are so proud of him!

Wednesday, was Daniel's promotion from 8th grade. That is also in the other post.

It was also the last day of school, so I went to the school to get a few picture for the kids.

This is Laney with her teacher Mrs. Bennett. They had a rough start to the year, but were able to grow together and work through it. They love each other.

When they came home they all, including Trevor Watkins and Noah Fechter, wished Sara a happy 18th birthday before she went to Cosmetology school.

The little girls and Daniel went to the Larson's to swim and party!

I went with Sara to school and let her pamper me for her birthday. It was fun, a lot more than working on strangers all day. We talked and laughed and were pretty exhausted from a crazy week. I got my first facial. It was great! Who knew that having your face massaged would feel so good!

Jessi came in also, since it was her birthday too. Sara did her nails for her.

After school, KenaDee had a swing by and she gave Sara some beautiful flowers, perfume and a necklace.

For dinner I made some Garam Marsala beef and fried eggplant for dinner. It was pretty wonderful. I think I could live off of fried eggplant.

Friday morning, Brandon came over with birthday flowers and a balloon for Sara. 

Sara got out of Cosmetology school early so we could take the boys to Ethan's house in Mesa and then she and I could take Laney to the Gilbert temple. It was Laney's first time in the temple!

It was beautiful outside and beautiful inside! We had a wonderful time as just girls at the temple. Laney loved it and said that it was amazing to be there and do the Lord's work. She felt excited and so happy!

We did a little shopping at Old Navy and then went to In and Out Burger, because we were starving!

It was soooo delicious!!!

Richard and Susanna had a night together and got Taco Bell, watched Disney movies and snuggled. She though it was wonderful!

Saturday morning, Sara cut the 4 Watkins boys' hair and then we went shopping again, just the three of us again. The boys were still all gone to Canyon Lake with Ethan and friends. Richard helped Chad and Melissa Huebsch move into their new house in Goodyear. 

That evening, Richard and I went to see The Price of Freedom by  Rob Gardner and McKane Davis at the Silver Star Dinner Theater with Gram and Papa, Dandi and Lucas, and Jessi and fella, Aaron. It was wonderful as always! It was all the original cast except for one, but the new guy did a great job. Dinner was delicious and the company was fun and hilarious, of course.
