Family History, I Love Doing It!
I love researching my ancestors. My dad's parents and my mom's mom all died before I was born. I really feel like I am building a relationship with them as I read about them and search for their records. It amazes me how much you can learn about your ancestors just from census records. I have been blessed to have relatives that have been collecting photos and information for years. It sure makes it a lot easier when you have something to start with.
I am in the process of getting all the old photos scanned so that if, heaven forbid, something were to happen to them we would have copies. Also, I hope to get copies out to all my family so they can enjoy them too.
This is my Grandmother, Florence Elizabeth Messer. She died when my mother was almost 3 years old. This is a prom or graduation picture, we aren't sure which.
This is her with my grandpa, Benjamin Frederick Harden. He's so handsome! This is from when they were courting.
On the left is Florence and Ben, and the right is her brother Miles Marvin Messer Jr. and his wife Emogene Riley. This photo is earlier than the previous. Ben is only 19. He was chasing after Florence, an older woman of 25. He eventually won her over and they married when he was 22 and she was just barely 29. She died only 5 1/2 years later, after having my uncle and my mom.
Great swimming suits, eh? This is the beach on the pan handle of Florida.

My Baby Turned ONE!!!
Susanna doesn't like the camera. If you point it at her she generally crawls away or turns her head. It is a rare moment that you can catch her smile because she usually has her devilish grin pointed the other way as she is trying to escape the photo shoot.
Anyhow, my Zanna-girl is one year old. She is sunshine in our home. What a blessing to be her mom... even though she likes dad better.

Sam loves to walk around our yard and take pictures of our flowers. He has a real eye for it and has gotten a lot of beautiful shots. Here are some of my favorites.
It is especially nice to be able to enjoy my amarillas and iris blooms all year since they are only around for a few weeks. They are all beautiful though. Thanks Sam!

My hubby kindly pointed out to me that this was not a Lincoln quote, but William J. H. Boetcker. He published this in a pamphlet where he also quoted Lincoln. Apparently, even Ronald Reagan has mistakenly credited Lincoln with this quote, so I am not in bad company.

Update on the OOPS!
Josh is getting a crown. This is his temporary crown. Dr. Nick Rolfe and his D.A. Cynthia did an amazing job. Josh had to hold his lip up for the picture because it was still asleep. Josh said that Cynthia was an awesome carver of teeth. She really did do a great job matching his other front tooth. Thanks to Rolfe dentistry for great care!
