Crazy Pasta Night

We borrowed a pasta machine from our dear friends, the Barrys, and had a family home evening lesson on how to use our food storage to make food we love / pasta night.  It was a lot of fun and super easy.  Last time we made pasta we did it all by hand which isn't hard, just way more time consuming.

We made two different shapes and colors.  The kids came up with adding food coloring, it wasn't particularly appealing to the eyes to eat blue or pink pasta, but it was fun.  The kids took turns adding ingredients, cutting the pasta as it came out and laying out on the pans so it wouldn't get stuck together.

The kids all liked the pasta.  We kept it simple and just put butter and Parmesan cheese on it.

Sam wasn't feeling well so  he was not in the kitchen with us.  I didn't want to leave him out of the photos, but he didn't want to cooperate.  He insisted on showing me his sad grump eyes.  I told him to at least smile with his eyes if that was all I was going to have in my photo.  So this is his version of smiling eyes (he is not making fun of Asians).  What a nerd!  He did eventually give me a  real hidden smile.  Thank you, my son.

The kids all look forward to making more pasta and trying new shapes and colors, maybe some more appetizing colors.  It was a lot of fun!
