10 days ago, Tony went to the ER because of terrible heartburn. He thought he had a hiatal hernia. After running his blood work they informed him that he had just had a heart attack and not only that, but he had had a previous heart attack about 5 months ago. He thought that he had been having terrible heartburn and noticed shortness of breath and lack of stamina over the last 5 months and had limited his activities according to how he was feeling. It did not keep him of the ice on hockey days, though he didn't play forward much, he just didn't have the energy.
After the EKG and other imaging, they saw that his widowmaker artery was 100% blocked and another of his arteries had 3 blockages. They said that he should not still be alive and talking to them. What a miracle!
A few days later they performed open heart surgery and fixed him all up like new with arteries from his leg. The #1 heart surgeon in AZ happened to be the doctor available for his surgery. Another blessing!

Getting up and moving is always the hardest part of recovery.
Tony, always the optimist, has worked hard to keep his smile on through everything.
They call this his shark bite. It is where they took the arteries from for his heart.
Today, Tony got to go home. He's weak and wiped out, but doing great.
So many miracles!
