A killer, but fun week

This last week was insanely busy. It was the last week before my and Sara's spring break, so lots of projects, assignments and exams for midterms. On top of all the school stuff, we crammed in a lot of other fun things.

Sunday evening we had our video call with Timmy. It has been so wonderful to hear his voice and see his face the last few weeks! I love that I get to have my whole family together on video call every Sunday evening. I miss my grown up kiddos!

Sara had Jacob take the Personality Plus test. She took it again too. They learned a lot about each other and had a ton of fun. Jacob got 13 Phlegmatic, 11 Sanguine, 8 Choleric and 8 Melancholy. Sara got 19 Melancholy, 17 Phlegmatic, 4 Sanguine and 0 Choleric. 

Daniel had to write a sonnet for English and was really struggling with it. Grammy helped him work on it for a couple of hours. She is a saint! And they had a great time working together, of course. Who doesn't like working with Grammy???

When Jacob came on Saturday, he brought a rose for Sara. So sweet!

Sara spent almost all night painting this for her art class. She has a gift producing incredible last minute pieces! She went to bed at 4:40 am and then was up to leave on time for our 8:00 am class. She got first place in her class on this project. She has gotten first place on all of her judged pieces this semester.

This piece is titled, "Isn't it obvious?"

It represents people who are stuck in a destructive way of being, and keep doing things that have harmful or negative effects in their life or relationships. You can't see where they are coming from and you can clearly see that they are jumping in to a big mess, just like in her painting.

I love it!!!

After school, we drove out to Gilbert to have Josh take her mission photos. We had a wonderful time, as always. We love Josh and will miss all of the talks and silliness when he leaves at the end of March for his mission in Thailand.

These guys are such great friends. I am grateful for all that Josh has done for Sara over the last year.  He has been there for her through lots of ups and downs. I'm excited for their adventures as missionaries in the Eastern Hemisphere, Josh in Thailand and Sara in Hungary and Romania.

Daniel was so proud of his battle wound from capture the flag at the Beal's ranch for their youth activity. It was combined with all the young women and young men.

Thursday night, the kids all ditched choir so they could come to my school choir concert. It was titled, "The British Are Coming". We did all British songs, even some Gilbert and Sullivan from Pirates of Penzance. It was a hilarious number! I especially loved our Chamber Singers music, The Evening Primrose by Benjamin Britten, As Torrents in Summer by Edward Elgar, Linden Lea arranged by Ralph Vaughn Williams, and My Spirit Sang All Day by Gerald Finzi.

Gram, Papa and Grandpa Alger came, as well as Leigh (who had flown down for the week) and her sister Kara. It was wonderful to have so many of my favorite people there to share the evening with me!

Saturday morning, as the Stake Relief Society presidency, we were in charge of the activity for the women of our stake. We had workshops and service projects followed by lunch. It all went smoothly and I was able to hurry off to my next event of the day after we cleaned everything up.

We made cards for a care center, so that the residents there have them to use when they want to write loved ones or friends.

I ran home and grabbed the girls and we went to the Sasaki's for Leigh's baby shower.

Leigh's mom, Malie, put together a lovely shower. The decorations were beautiful and the food delicious! It was nice to sit down and visit for a while and to just relax. We are so excited for this baby boy to come! He is the first grandchild on the Alger side and the Sasaki side. He is going to get plenty of love and adoration, for sure!

It's wonderful to have two incredible daughters-in-law! We love Leigh and Vivi!!!

Saturday night, we went to the Young Single Adult Stake Conference to hear Sara speak. Jacob went with us. It was fun to have him sit with Richard and I in the congregation. Gram and Papa also attended. Sebastian also spoke. They both did a fabulous job! 

When we got back home, I realized that we hadn't taken a picture yet. Sara recommended that we take it in the garage next to the solar panel inverters. It made such a beautiful background. Hahaha!

We gave it another go in front of the vines on the porch. A little prettier.

They are so cute together!

We came inside, put on comfy clothes and talked for a while. It was a wonderful evening!

Sunday, I went to two different wards for ward conferences and had a couple of meetings. It was so nice to come home and play with the kiddos after such a busy weekend. We played lots of Jungle Uno. Jacob caught on super quickly.

We never lack for wrestling at our house, and Jacob is the new object of everyone's energy. He is also very ticklish, so they love to sneak up on him and tickle him.

Laney and Freddy are both such sweethearts. I love my babies!
