We celebrated Zanna's birthday a day early, since prom was on her birthday. We wanted to make sure we had time to fuss over her adequately. We started the day with play rehearsal. Here she is with her fellow lost boy and raccoon twin, Jolie, one of her best friends.
After play practice we went shopping for her birthday gifts. She didn't want surprises this year, she wanted to shop with me. She chose a stainless steel water bottle, EOS chapstick, Junior Mints, a pack of colored gel pens, a huge costco box of Polar Ice gum, and a giant bag of Fuego Takis. It was everything on her birthday list. She was pretty practical this year and said she didn't need any clothes, shoes or toys.
Then we picked up Daddy and went to Red Robin for dinner. I love our birthday dates with the kids. It is a highlight for me. Susanna had fun telling us about her life and being grown up. She is a delight.
And super silly!
The kids were extra sweet and did all sorts of nice thing for her on her birthday. She woke up to find her door decorated with hearts from Tim and Daniel.
And Laney and Tori (she had spent the night with us) decorated the white board for her.
Her friend Jolie came by and gave her a bag full of lots of her favorite things, candy, nail polish, gum, lip gloss, perfume...
Sam spent a long time hand making a beautiful card for her with a special note from him inside. He left it on her pillow for her to find later.
I couldn't believe all the kindness that was shown to her, without any reminders or promptings from Mom and Dad. Way to go kids!
That evening they all snuggled down and watched Rise of the Guardians.
It was a pretty wonderful birthday, even with prom.
