We took Molly and Megan with us to spend the day visiting the sites around the National Mall. Amanda and Sabrina stayed behind to meet with the A/C guy, to see if he could get it working well again.
We began the day at the National Art Museum. The paintings were incredible and the building gorgeous as well.
I told the kids that we wouldn't spend too long looking at paintings, that we would move on to the other museums and monuments, but they kept looking and looking. They were super impressed with the familiar Monet and Van Gogh paintings. I loved experiencing it with them!
Laney loved this huge landscape.
Our next stop was the Air and Space Museum. Richard especially enjoyed this museum, thinking of how much his dad would love to see all the airplanes.
The sun was bright in our eyes. It's pretty awesome to see the National Mall and the monuments in person and to share it with Rich and all these cute kiddos.
Next was the Natural History Museum. We stayed there until closing. We began with the underwater creatures. The megalodon ate the kids!
Laney and Molly made them selves at home with the ants.
The girls and I were feeling a little wiped out while waiting for the boys to finish checking out ALL of the bugs. It was Daniel's favorite exhibit.
We were tire, but still very happy!
Everyone was super excited to see the dinosaurs.
I think the National Geographic animal photos were one of the things that the kids were most looking forward to. They have seen all the pictures of Tim, Sara, Andrew, Freddy, Gram, Aunt Kathy and I mimicking the animals 2 years ago. They were thrilled to have new photos in the exhibit to impersonate.

Molly is a big fish for Laney's little mouth.
Susanna makes awesome lightning and Daniel is a fearsome looking volcano!
When the museum closed, it was monument time. Sadly, the Washington Monument was closed for repairs and fenced off. We couldn't get very close to it, but it was still magnificent.
We walked through the Vietnam Memorial. In my opinion, this is one of the most touching memorials. You can almost feel the soldiers moving through the brush.
Mr. Lincoln was happy to see us!
They also remembered that Andrew had enjoyed sliding down by the front steps of the Lincoln Memorial. They had to try it too.
We rode the Circulator bus to get back closer to where we parked. While we waited for the bus, this little fellow kept us all entertained.
Everyone was still smiling after a long, fun filled day of walking and site seeing.
